Update October 1: Michelle Arroyo , the mother of Grayson Smiley, spoke to Radar online yesterday.
Here's what she had to say :
"Another disingenuous attempt at trying to portray himself as a father concerned for his son and his own battle against cancer," "Grayson has a brain injury... he's had six brain surgeries... and he has long-standing permanent effects from chemotherapy," she said. "There's so much that can be done for him, but his father has never made an effort to further any of that, to help pay for any of that, to help take him to any of his therapies to really do anything for him.
"So I have a hard time seeing that this is a genuine concern and effort for a cancer cause."
Don't we all, Michelle.
"Actor" Slade Smiley, along with girlfriend Gretchen Rossi of the Real Housewives of Orange County is hosting and modeling in a cancer charity fashion show in the Bay Area on Friday.
What's remarkable about that? Considering the fact that Slade will not help pay for the care of his son, Grayson, a 10 year old cancer victim, makes this ironic at best, maddening at worse.

Project Pink Runway Show at Westfield Valley Fair to Benefit American Cancer Society Featuring Fashion Show, Entertainment and Celebrities
Westfield Valley Fair will bring a high-energy fashion production to shoppers in the Bay Area with the ‘Project Pink Runway Show’, presented in partnership with The Bay Area Fashionista. ‘Real Housewife of Orange County’ Gretchen Rossi will model in the event and actor Slade Smiley will co-host the event. Scheduled to be held on Friday evening, October 1st at 7:00 PM at Westfield Valley Fair, all proceeds from Project Pink will benefit the American Cancer Society.
This event did not go unnoticed by several people, who sent emails to the organization expressing outrage and concern. A sample of one of the emails:
To whom this may concern.
I cannot believe that you are allowing Slade Smiley to co-host this event for you. This man is a well known deadbeat Dad who has his own child with cancer yet hides his income not allowing his ex-wife to collect what is owed to his son with Brain Cancer. He was also supposed to pay for his son's medical Insurance and he let that lapse while he jet sets all over the US and takes his payment from Gretchen Rossi so the child support is not taken out of his checks. He has been arrested for violating a court order, owes hundreds of thousands in back taxes and he is a very shady person in all aspects of his life. How can you allow him to stand up there raising money for your cause when he cannot even take responsibility for his own Son who has BRAIN CANCER?
Gretchen Rossi is no better than Slade because she is enabling him to skip out on his payments for his cancer stricken son. Is this the kind of man you want representing your event? I am planning on calling the media and showing up with them at your event if you do not remove him so I believe that the best thing is for you to find honorable people to co-host and walk in this showPlease reconsider these people representing your cause.
